Clean Jobs NY
New Campaign Aims to Rapidly Expand the State’s Clean Energy Economy
Ron Kamen, an E2NY chapter director and owner of EarthKind Energy, speaks at a press conference rolling out our Clean Jobs NY report on May 2, 2016. Kamen was joined by fellow E2 members, clean energy advocates from across the state, and actor/clean energy advocate Mark Ruffalo. E2's Clean Jobs NY report tallied more than 85,000 clean energy jobs statewide. It was a great day for New Yorker's launching the major new “New Yorkers for Clean Power” statewide campaign to increase the deployment of clean energy across New York State.
In addition, the director of Northeast Energy & Sustainable Communities at the 'Natural Resources Defense Council,' D0nna DeCostanzo had this to say,"To avoid the worst effects of climate change, it will take all of us, and New Yorkers for Clean Power promises to bring together people and communities around the state to unite behind the goal of further advancing clean energy to the benefit of our economy and our health through reduced pollution." “This is an important step to build upon New York’s clean energy leadership and shows the nation, and the world, that this is a fight we can win by marshaling our collective forces.”
Ron Kamen, the Chairman of EarthKind Energy and a director of E2’s New York Chapter works extensively with the government at local, State and Federal levels to ensure a favorable climate for solar development, said "Tens of thousands of New Yorkers make clean energy a big and growing part of our state's economy, ” and that “Clean energy now employs as many New Yorkers as some of the most prominent sectors in our economy. With the right policies, we can continue to create jobs in our state, while also helping our environment.”
Late last year, a production company, Angel Light Pictures Entertainment Group, owned by producer Antonio Saillant, joined Earthkind Energy in order to commit to the environmental cause and launched Planet Greenfest to focus both on entertainment and the environment. Saillant states, "By including EarthKind Energy we look forward to the expanded growth that will be propelled by this next evolution of our business model."
This strategy is a very positive idea for not only the entertainment business but also a way of spreading it to the world. Saillant being a leading voice for the energy policy to protect the quality of life and truly dedicated to tackle our region's energy challenges and harness the economic opportunities presented by clean renewable energy. His strong background in sustainable and energy conservation in building design, construction and entertainment. Saillant said, "Although I was not present for the launch of this incredible campaign, I have worked with Ron Kamen for many years and he has an amazing ability to develop and implement a business strategy that leverages EarthKind Energy's years of experience in renewable energy."
At the NY Launch, Even Lisa Dix, Senior Campaign Representative at the Sierra Club said, “We're proud to be joining a robust and diverse coalition of partners in ensuring that New York is a renewable energy leader." “It’s no surprise that tens of thousands of New Yorkers work in the clean energy sector and with the rapid expansion of clean energy policies and programs, that number will only rise. Along with the growth of the clean energy economy with existing technologies, we are excited by the long term jobs that a large scale offshore wind program can have in increasing economic opportunities for New Yorkers. Together, we will create a clean energy future in building a renewable energy economy that provides good-paying jobs and economic opportunity throughout the state.”
